Experimental Project - For fun

Create a 24 page accordion fold booklet.

I made it a calendar with horoscope illustrations.

The covers are made out of coffee cup holders :)

Emergency Contraception

Assignment: Brand a product that has a personal and emotional relationship with people, using visual references drawn from Laundry Detergent packaging so that the design is approached in an unconventional way. The conventional packaging for emergency contraception is quiet and serious. I chose that product and used the loud bold elements from laundry detergent packaging. I gave the brand an irreverent name to break with the silly taboo behind the product. Purchasing it shouldn't be a scary nervous experience, there is enough stress in life already. Its a mistake, it happens, take your pill and breathe.

Personal Timeline

This info-graph was an experimental project.
The assignment was to design a timeline that somehow spoke of our lives.
I worked my personal timeline around people and experiences that helped shape who I am today.

•Each Circle = element of my life (event, interest, person, experience)
•The horizontal placement is a timeline.
•The vertical placement relates to the impact it had on my life. Picture the horizontal line having gravity, the circles closest to the line or beneath it had more weight on me.
•The size of each circle represents its memorability. (memorability and impact are different, some were harder to remember but they had a stronger influence, others are very memorable, but did not change anything.

•Colors divide the circles into categories. When I contrast and compare how the different colored cirlcles flow I can understand how the different happenings affected one another.

The challenge of this project was to graph 50 timelines for 50 different locations in one static image. This info-graph maps the how the laws related to the rights of the LGBT community have changed throughout the last 10 years in the US. And because each state has its individual laws, each state is represented with its own timeline.

The concentric circles on each state represent color coded timelines. The colors represent the kind of law that exists in that state during the year that the ring stands for. The rings provide the viewer with a general idea of time, the outer rings represent the most recent, and the innermost ring represents the status of the law 10 years ago. Teal stands for supportive laws, while white stands for anti-LGBT laws, lighter shades of green mean tougher laws.

The data at the bottom is a text timeline, it details the relevant laws that were passed each year.

For this project we played around with seeing things through different points of view. One option was seeing the world through the eyes of the disadvantaged child, and the other through the eyes of the people who usually overlook them.

Otro Teatro is a group of young Dominican actors that create and perform unconventional theater plays. They define themselves as innovating artist that oppose the traditional ways of theater. They asked for a logo that holds a baroque essence and theatrical feel, but still has a certain awkwardness to counter these traditional qualities.
